Former Russian figure skater Oblasova accused Slutskaya of doping
Former Russian figure skater Kristina Oblasova accused two-time world champion Irina Slutskaya of doping. Her words are quoted by “Championship”.
According to the ex-athlete, at the age of 21 or 22, Slutskaya, for unknown reasons, became asthmatic. “She was cleared for breathing medications. In our sport it is really very important that you have enough breath and strength to jump. Well, I cheated – ok. It was a success, and okay,” said Oblasova.
The Russian won bronze at the 2004 national championship in women’s single skating. She is also the winner of the 2001 World Junior Championships.
Slutskaya won silver at the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City and bronze at the 2006 Olympics in Turin in single skating. The athlete also won the World Championship twice (2002, 2005). She ended her career in 2006.
