RUSADA did not reveal the involvement of third parties in the use of doping by Kamila Valieva
Director General of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) Veronika Loginova assessed the possible involvement of third parties in the use of doping by figure skater Kamila Valieva. Her words are quoted by TASS.
She noted that following the results of the organization’s investigation, the involvement of anyone other than the figure skater in violating anti-doping rules was not revealed. “But, again, I repeat, we would like to have a large number of competencies and capabilities, like, for example, law enforcement agencies,” added Loginova.
At the same time, the head of RUSADA emphasized that the agency is ready to resume the investigation if new data is received. “We have closed this case for now, but I think the World Anti-Doping Agency may also conduct further investigations,” Loginova said.
Valieva was disqualified for four years for doping. Traces of trimetazidine were found in the skater’s December 2021 sample. As a result, she was stripped of her gold for winning the team tournament at the 2022 Olympics, as well as her Russian and European titles.
