Roma’s Franco-Ivorian defender Evan Ndicka, who suffered a sudden illness during a game in the 32nd round of the Italian championship, has received medical authorization to resume physical activities, his club announced this Tuesday.
“Evan Ndicka underwent a series of level three cardiological and pulmonary examinations which confirmed the absence of any cardiac pathology and the cure of the minimal pneumothorax detected” after the game, Roma explained.
“Consequently, the player will be able to resume physical activity that will continue under supervision”, he adds.
Roma, fifth in the Italian championship and qualified for the semi-finals of the Europa League, where they will face Bayer Leverkusen, did not provide a date for Ndicka’s return to action.
The 24-year-old player suffered a sudden illness, with pain in the heart region, at 25 in the second half, in the match between Udinese and Roma, on April 14, in the 32nd round of Serie A.
Ndicka was quickly taken to the stadium infirmary and then to a hospital in Udine, with suspicions that he may be suffering a heart attack.
After spending a night under observation, he managed to return to Rome, after medical examinations revealed “no cardiac pathology”, but rather “a chest trauma with minimal left pneumothorax”.
