With two from Havertz, Arsenal thrashes Chelsea and opens Liverpool three points at the top of the English

This Tuesday, for the 34th round of the English Championship, Arsenal thrashed rival Chelsea 5-0 at the Emirates Stadium, and opened a three-point lead over Liverpool, second in the standings. The home team’s goals were scored by Trossard, Havertz (2) and Ben White (2). Odegaard did not find the net, however he distributed two assists.

With the three points, Arsenal are at the top of the English Championship table with 77 points. Liverpool, second placed with 74, plays this Wednesday, against Everton, and could draw on points with the London club. Thus, the first criterion for breaking the tie is goal difference.

The biggest concern for Arteta’s team is Manchester City, who have 73 points. Guardiola’s team has one game in hand and still enters the field in this round, against Brighton, this Thursday. Chelsea, in turn, remains in ninth place with 47 units added.

For the 35th round of the English Championship, Arsenal returns to the pitch, on Sunday, at 10 am (Brasília time), to face Tottenham, away from home. Chelsea, this Saturday, at 4pm, visits Aston Villa, at Villa Park.

The goals

Arsenal opened the scoring just 4 minutes into the first half. After a well-worked play, Declan Rice played to Trossard in depth, who, inside the area, hit a strong low finish and Petrovic accepted it.

The second of Gunners came out just seven minutes into the second half. Ben White took advantage and, inside the penalty area, completed the ball into the back of the net. Five minutes later, at 12, Havertz scored the third for the home team. The German had assistance from Odegaard.

Arsenal’s fourth goal also came from Kai Havertz, in the 20th minute. This time, the athlete needed assistance from Bukayo Saka.

To close the score, Ben White received it from Odegaard inside the penalty area. The player made the movement to cross with his foot, but the ball went towards the goal, covering it and killing Petrovic.
