Luis Enrique projects PSG’s French Championship title this Wednesday

Paris Saint-Germain could be champion of the French Championship this Wednesday. For this to happen, the team needs to beat Lorient and hope that Monaco doesn’t score points against Lille. Coach Luis Enrique hopes to be champion in this round.

“I hope we will be champions on Wednesday, but the important thing is not when that happens. Even if we win the championship, we will continue fighting. We were clearly the favorites at the start of the championship. Not everyone can become champion with so many matches to spare. We have the best squad and the best budget, so it is almost mandatory to win the championship, but we achieve this by being superior”, he said.

PSG and Lorient face each other this Wednesday, at 2pm (Brasília time). Monaco’s match, against Lille, will only be at 4pm.

Paris Saint-Germain has the opportunity to make history and become the first team to win all possible French season titles: the Champions League, the French Cup, the French Championship and the French Super Cup.

Currently, the team has already become champion of the Super Cup, is very close to winning the French Championship, is in the semi-final of the Champions League, against Borussia Dortmund, and has qualified for the final of the French Cup, against Lyon.

Luis Enrique was motivated by the possibility of winning all the titles of the season.

“It is undoubtedly a motivation to do something that has never been done in France to mark the history of our club, the city and the country. At the moment we have a title, we have to win the French Championship and then continue fighting to respect the other clubs. Then we will have the Cup final against Lyon, an inevitably unique match. It’s a long and winding road. We will have to be very focused at the end of the season”, he commented.

With five rounds left until the end of the French Championship, PSG is the leader with 66 points, 11 more than second-placed Monaco.
