The first court hearing regarding the possible extradition of Spartak Moscow striker Quincy Promes to the Netherlands from the UAE will take place in Dubai on May 2. The date was announced by the RTL Boulevard portal.
On February 29, Promes was detained at border control at Dubai airport for being involved in an accident and leaving the scene. Two weeks later, the football player was arrested at the request of the Dutch prosecutor’s office. The Dutch side is seeking the extradition of the athlete.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison, finding him guilty of drug smuggling. In the summer of 2023, the football player received 18 months in prison in his homeland for attacking his brother with a knife.
Promes’ contract with Spartak runs until the summer of 2025. This season he played 17 matches in the Russian Premier League (RPL), in which he scored six goals and made six assists.
