The greatest scorer in the history of the French national team, Olivier Giroud, has reached an agreement to play for Los Angeles FC, a team in the North American league (MLS) to which he will transfer in August, the player’s surroundings confirmed following information released by the broadcaster RMC.
The 37-year-old striker, whose contract with Milan ends on June 30, has committed to his new club for a season and a half, starting on August 1, according to the French broadcaster.
After three seasons at Milan, the Californian team will be the eighth in the veteran goalscorer’s career, after Grenoble, Istres, Tours, Montpellier (where they won Ligue 1 in 2012), Arsenal (2012-2018) and Chelsea (2018-2021 ), with which he won the Champions League in 2021.
With 57 goals in 131 games, Giroud is also the best scorer in the history of the ‘Bleus’ and was world champion in the Russian Cup in 2018.
In Los Angeles, he will meet goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who holds the record for most games with the French national team (145).
