Sergio Rico approaches his return to the pitch at PSG after almost a year away

Paris Saint-Germain released a clinical report this Tuesday and announced that goalkeeper Sergio Rico will undergo mandatory medical examinations before returning to the club. The Spaniard has been sidelined since May last year, when he suffered an accident in Spain and is close to returning to action.

At the time of the accident, the goalkeeper suffered blows to the head from a horse while participating in a popular festival in the city of Huelva, Spain. The episode resulted in a traumatic brain injury and Sergio was only discharged after 83 days, 37 of which were admitted to the ICU.

Rico has a contract with PSG until the end of this season and it has not yet been announced whether the athlete will renew with the Parisian club. Earlier this year, the Spaniard revealed that he hopes to remain with the French team.

“It’s up to the club whether they want to renew it or not. I hope so, I would love that. I love Paris. I’ve received a lot of love in the last few months and I’d like to reciprocate with my work,” he said in an interview with Canal+.

Still without Sergio Rico, Paris Saint-Germain takes the field this Wednesday, at 2pm (Brasília time), against Lorient, away from home, for the 30th round of the French Championship. If the Parisian team wins and Monaco stumbles, the team led by coach Luis Enrique will win the competition title.
