In Fedeguayas there is concern about luminaries from the Alberto Spencer stadium for the October 9 game in the South American Cup

The leader Roberto Ibáñez says that the provincial body and the Guayaquil club must ‘work’ towards international programming for March.

After 37 years, the Guayaquil club 9 de Octubre will compete again internationally, this time in the 2022 South American Cup, and on the way of the porteños, that act as premises in the Alberto Spencer stadium, the concern of the Sports Federation of Guayas (Fedeguayas) arises for the lighting on the stage of the avenue of the Americas.

“I’m a little worried about the lights,” he said this Wednesday on the program Area 88, from Active Radio, Roberto Ibáñez, president of the Federation, administrator of the stadium inaugurated on July 24, 1959. And the leader continued: “In the inspections carried out by Conmebol, he has referred to the lights. It’s understandable. We will have to work, October 9 and Fedeguayas, seeing how to solve this problem, which we hope is not a problem when they have to play ”.

The Octobrinos will be measured with the manabita Delfín in phase 1 of the Sudamericana. The departure will be on March 10, with the Manta as homeowners, while the return will be at the Main Port on the 17th of the same month at 7:30 p.m., as determined by the key draw last Monday.

Last April, Alberto Spencer had work on the lights so that the stadium could host matches at night. Since then, Nine received his rivals indifferently in terms of schedules in LigaPro Serie A programming.

However, by 2022, the South American Football Confederation has required 1,300 lx (illuminance unit) in its international competitions.

“I don’t know what flexibility Conmebol will give in that sense,” said Ibáñez.

And he added: “As Fedeguayas, what we have to ensure is that the stage is in optimal conditions for the event. The stadium meets everything you need to be able to play. All you need is LED lighting. Once we have that, we’ll be on the other side. It complies with everything that Conmebol and LigaPro ask for, with the exception of the lights ”.

The 36-year-old leader announced that there will be an appointment with the board of directors on October 9 to discuss the issue: “We have not had a meeting with Rossy (Gómez, president of the October club). We must already set up a meeting these days. In this type of event, the Sudamericana (organization) takes charge of the entire day. Ask for the keys and bye. This is good to a certain extent, because they are the experts on the subject and they know how to handle their logistics ”.

Conmebol regulations indicate that “stadiums must inevitably have artificial lighting systems. The stadium that does not have artificial lighting will not be able to be accredited for the tournament matches to be played, In this case, the club must designate another stadium that meets these conditions”. In previous years, a lower luminaire capacity led to fines for home-owning clubs in Libertadores and Sudamericana.

In this context, Juan Carlos León, coach of the Octubrinos, said that the “first alternative is the Christian Benítez stadium”, in Samanes. And he elaborated: “We are going to try to play it at home, in our fort. If the lights need to be improved, it must be done. There is time needed. I do not think that on the part of Fedeguayas this possibility of being exhibited at an international level will be lost because of not being able to fix the lights, we are more than sure that it will be remedied ”.

The Ecuadorian football championship returned to the Model Stadium in Guayaquil Alberto Spencer this 2021 with Nine back in the first division after 26 years. Also Guayaquil Sport (series B) was local. (D)
