The British team cyclist EF Education-EasyPost Simon Carr ha cattle this Thursday the fourth stage of the Tour of the Alps 2024, in Borgo Valsugana, on a day in which the Spanish runner of the Lidl-Trek Juanpe López has achieved maintain the green jersey of leader of the general classification. Carr has reached the finish line alone of the queen stage of this edition of the Tour of the Alps, which presents, in the absence of the dispute on the fifth and final day, a general classification with a lot to say for a good number of men who have options to win.

The fourth stage has been characterized by the large number of attacks that leader Juanpe López has had to face to continue in first position. The Andalusian cyclist has responded with solvency, and, in this way, he will face Friday’s day with 38 seconds over Ben O’Connor and 48 with respect to Tiberi, Poels, Bardet and Paret-Peintre.

Tobias Foss (INEOS), winner of the first stage, leader until Wednesday and second overall until Thursday, has lost any chance of fighting for victory, on a day in which he lost more than 14 minutes. Very different has been the performance signed by Mikel Bizkarra, from Euskaltel-Euskadi, who was in the breakaway of the day, the same one that led to Carr’s victory; The man from Mañaria has pedaled with the best throughout the day, and has finished the stage in nineteenth position, 5:38 behind the winner. Nineteenth overall is also Urko Berrade (Kern Pharma).

The fight unleashed in the group of favorites has not prevented Carr from winning again in the Tour of the Alps, where he also scored a stage victory in the 2023 edition.

The fifth and final day of the test is scheduled for Friday. The stage will begin and end in Levico Terme, and foresees a route of 118.6 kilometers; In its second half, decisive will be, on the one hand, the tough double ascent up the Palù de Fersina, and, on the other, the finish, which presents a steep and demanding profile.
