Zenit goalkeeper Kerzhakov spoke about the difficulties of communication with teammates
Russian goalkeeper of St. Petersburg Zenit Mikhail Kerzhakov spoke about the difficulties of communication with foreign teammates. His words are quoted on the team’s website.
The player recalled that in previous seasons he fell into a stupor several times in moments when he needed a hint. “I can’t immediately figure out what language to shout in—Russian, Portuguese or English,” the footballer noted.
This season, six foreigners played in the defensive line of St. Petersburg Zenit – Brazilians Douglas Santos, Rodrigao, Nino and Robert Renan, representative of Kazakhstan Nuraly Alip and Serb Strahinja Erakovic. In addition, Brazilian defender Mario Fernandez, who has Russian citizenship, plays for Zenit and has never spoken publicly in Russian.
Kerzhakov played 15 matches in the Russian Premier League this season. The goalkeeper missed 13 goals.
