Manchester United talks to Garnacho about his social media activity

Manchester United have spoken to Alejandro Garnacho after the Argentine striker ‘liked’ social media posts criticizing his manager Erik Ten Hag for replacing him.

The Argentine national team player, substituted at half-time in the 2-2 draw at Bournemouth, on Saturday, ‘liked’ two messages on the X account from a United fan and YouTuber Mark Goldbridge.

One accused Ten Hag of throwing Garnacho “under the bus” because of the Dutch coach’s comments about the 19-year-old’s performance.

The other stated that Garnacho “had a bad first half, but taking him off at half-time and considering the player to be the problem is a joke.”

Garnacho quickly removed both ‘likes’, an attitude that according to the club reflected regret. A Red Devils source told the PA news agency the matter was handled internally.

Garnacho has become a key player for United this season, scoring 9 goals and providing four assists in 42 games.

Ten Hag’s position was weakened after the draw against Bournemouth, which leaves the team in 7th place in the Premier League, 13 points away from the ‘top-4’ that qualifies for the next edition of the Champions League.

The FA Cup is the only title this season within reach of the ‘Red Devils’, who will play in the semi-final on Sunday, at Wembley, against Coventry.
