Guardiola projects a duel between Manchester City and Real Madrid: “We have to be prepared”

This Tuesday, Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola spoke at a press conference about his expectations for the duel with Real Madrid. The game will be held this Wednesday, at 4pm (Brasília time), at the Etihad Stadium, for the return of the quarter-finals of the Champions League. In the first leg, the teams tied 3-3.

The Spanish coach commented on the tactical changes that coach Carlo Ancelotti could make for the match and revealed that he expects the team to improve compared to the previous game.

“We have to be prepared. We will only know who is playing or how they are playing ten minutes before the game. We need to improve some things that we weren’t good at in the first match. We have to give them credit, Real Madrid are not just any opponent. But, we have we have to impose our way of playing as much as possible”, he said.

This is the third time in a row that Manchester City and Real Madrid have faced each other in the Champions League knockout stage. The English team won the duel last year and the Merengue club won in 2022. Guardiola spoke about the differences in relation to previous games.

“If we played against Madrid yesterday, it would be different from tomorrow. No two games are the same, they learned, we learned… let’s try to do what we have to do. It is what it is, it’s difficult. That’s the dream and what we want to reach”.

Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva was also at the press conference and praised his teammate Kevin De Bruyne, who was left out of the first leg and will play this Wednesday.

“When Kevin is there everything is different because he is one of the best players of our generation. We can’t deny that we are better with Kevin. It’s a big boost for us to have him back,” he said.
