Valuev: no one will take Macron’s words about the Olympic truce seriously

State Duma deputy, former world boxing champion Nikolai Valuev ridiculed the words of French President Emmanuel Macron about the Olympic truce at the 2024 Games. He is quoted by Sport24.

According to Valuev, no one will take what Macron said seriously. “Neither the Jews, nor the Arabs, nor us. The paddling pool himself does not look like a peacemaker,” he said.

Earlier on April 15, Macron expressed hope that conflicts in the world would stop during the Olympics in Paris. He noted that he would make every effort to implement this idea, with the help of international partners, including Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

The head of France also explained why Israel, unlike Russia, was allowed to participate in the Games without restrictions. According to him, Israel was the victim of a terrorist attack and is not the attacking party in its conflict.

The Olympic Games in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. Russians and Belarusians, if a number of conditions are met, will be able to compete in the individual competitions of the tournament in a neutral status.
