Akinfeev apologized to CSKA fans for missing a goal in the game with Lokomotiv
CSKA goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev apologized to the fans after the match of the 24th round of the Russian Premier League (RPL) with Lokomotiv. His appeal is posted on the club’s Telegram channel.
Akinfeev said that the first goal missed (in the 44th minute of the game from Ilya Samoshnikov – approx. “Tapes.ru”) is entirely his responsibility. “At the same time, I want to say that I am proud of our team. During this not-so-easy match, we showed character, equalized and strived to win until the last minute,” the goalkeeper added.
According to him, unity in difficult moments builds a team and inspires optimism. “I really hope that this match brought more positive emotions to our fans,” the footballer noted.
On April 13, CSKA pulled out a draw in the derby with Lokomotiv. The meeting ended with a score of 3:3. CSKA and Lokomotiv have 37 points each and are in fourth and fifth places in the Russian Championship standings, respectively.
