With ease, Manchester City thrashes Luton Town and takes the lead in the English

This Saturday, the Manchester City took no notice of Luton Town and won the match 5-1, at the Etihad Stadium, in the 33rd round of the English Championship. Hashioka (own goal), Kovacic, Haaland, Doku and Gvardiol scored for the home team, while Barkley scored for the visitors.

With the victory, City momentarily takes the lead in the competition. The team reached 73 points and now hopes that Arsenal e Liverppol don’t win the round.

Luton Town, in turn, remains in 18th place in the table, with 25 points won.

Now, Manchester City focuses on the second leg of the quarter-finals of Champions Leaguewhich takes place this Wednesday, against Real Madrid. Luton Town returns to the field next Saturday, against Brentford, in the English Championship.

Manchester City opened the scoring in the first play of the match. After a minute, Haaland shot towards the area and saved the goalkeeper. The rebound went to Doku, who finished with a deflection. In the end, Haaland turned in a volley, which exploded in the face of defender Hashioka, and the ball ended up in the back of the net.

In the 18th minute of the second half, City scored the second goal. After a well-designed corner kick, Kovacic, at the edge of the area, got on his right foot and hit a beautiful volley to extend the score.

Insatiable, the home team continued to put pressure on Luton Town and, in the 30th minute, scored the third goal of the game. Doku was brought down in the area and the referee awarded City a penalty. Haaland converted the charge and found the net once again.

Five minutes later, Barkley took advantage of an error by Brazilian Matheus Nunes when passing the ball and hit a cross to beat Ederson and score for the visitors.

However, City did not feel the goal conceded and once again filled Luton Town’s net in the 42nd minute. Doku received a pass from Gvardiol, easily got past two markers and hit the corner to score the home team’s fourth goal of the game.

Gvardiol, who assisted the fourth goal, scored a great goal in the 48th minute, in stoppage time. The defender risked a beautiful shot from outside the area, which ended in the corner, to score City’s last goal of the match.
