In a lackluster performance, Tottenham is run over by Newcastle and falls down the English table

Tottenham didn’t see the color of the ball and were beaten 4-0 by Newcastle this Saturday, at St. James’ Park, in the 33rd round of the season. English Championship. Isak (2x), Gordon and Schar scored the winning goals for the home team.

With the defeat, Tottenham fell from fourth to fifth place in the table, leaving the classification zone for Champions League. The visitors have 60 points and lost again in the tournament after three rounds without defeat.

Newcastle closed the gap on Tottenham in the table. The team reached 50 points and jumped from eighth to sixth place, but can still be overtaken in this round.

Tottenham will only return to the field on April 28th (Sunday), for the derby against Arsenal, in the English side. Newcastle faces a duel against Crystal Palace, on the 24th (Wednesday), in the same competition.

Newcastle dominated the first half. The team was incisive in attack and knew how to take advantage of Tottenham’s defensive fragility. In the 30th minute, after a ball dispute in midfield, Gordon found Isak, who cleared the line, invaded the area and hit the corner to open the score for the home team.

A minute later, Newcastle reached the second goal. Full-back Pedro Porro tried to pass the ball back to the goalkeeper and ended up putting Gordon in front of the goal. The midfielder remained calm and finished to extend the score.

The home team maintained the same pace in the second half. After just five minutes, Isak received a beautiful ball from Bruno Guimarães and touched the corner to score Newcastle’s third goal.

Winning 3-0, the home team controlled the game throughout the second half. In the final stretch of the match, in the 41st minute, Gordon took a corner kick to Schar’s head, which scored Newcastle’s fourth and final goal.
