Fetisov on Slovakia’s refusal of KHL players for the 2024 World Cup: idiocy knows no bounds
Two-time Olympic champion and State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Fetisov spoke about the Slovak Hockey Federation’s refusal of players from the Continental Hockey League (KHL). His words are quoted by Soviet Sport.
Fetisov assessed the Federation’s decision not to call hockey players to the 2024 World Championship with the phrase “idiocy has no boundaries.” He believed that politicians should make more informed decisions.
The decision of the Federation of Slovakia became known on April 12. In their opinion, the current Slovak hockey players playing in the KHL are not available for the needs of the national team. Nine players from Slovakia played in the KHL this season.
The 2024 Ice Hockey World Championship will be held in Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic, from May 10 to 26. The Russian national team has been suspended from all international competitions.
