Roma won 1-0 on their visit to Milan, this Thursday (11), in a 100% Italian duel in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
The Milan team, which had almost no chances this Thursday, saw its run of seven consecutive victories come to an end, taking into account all competitions.
“It wasn’t our best night in technical terms, in decisions and in the completion of plays,” acknowledged Milan coach Stefano Pioli.
“We need to play better in the second game, see what we didn’t do well tonight, we still have the chance of a turnaround”, added the coach.
In the final moments they could have equalized, but Frenchman Olivier Giroud sent the chance over goalkeeper Mile Svilar’s crossbar (87′).
The return match will be on Thursday next week, at the Olympic Stadium in Rome.
Whoever wins this Italian duel will face the winner of the clash between Bayer Leverkusen and West Ham in the semi-finals. This Thursday the German team beat the English team 2-0 in the first game, and moved closer to the next stage of the tournament.
