With two goals from Malcom, Al-Hilal surpasses Al-Ittihad and wins the Saudi Super Cup title

This Thursday, Al-Hilal beat Al-Ittihad 4-1 in the final of the Saudi Super Cup and won the competition title. The decision was held at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Brazilian Malcom scored two goals and was the highlight of the match.

With the result, Al-Hilal, the biggest winner of the Saudi Super Cup, won the tournament for the fourth time in its history. While Al-Ittihad lifted the trophy only once, last year.

Furthermore, the team led by Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus extended the record for consecutive victories in the history of football, which now stands at 34.

Al-Hilal takes to the field again next Tuesday, at 1pm (Brasília time), against Al Ain, at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium, in the United Arab Emirates, in the first leg of the Asian Champions League semi-final. Al-Ittihad will visit Al Hazm on April 20th, at 3pm, for the Saudi Championship.

Al-Hilal started the match with pressure and opened the scoring four minutes into the first half. Brazilian Malcom advanced through the middle, played the ball with Saleh Al-Shehri, and finished low past the goalkeeper to find the net.

In the 21st minute of the opening half, Al-Ittihad tied the game. Abderrazak Hamdallah received a cross, dominated with his chest in the area and was brought down by Renan Lodi. After VAR intervention, the referee awarded a penalty. The striker himself took the penalty and goalkeeper Bono saved it, but the number 99 took advantage of the rebound and shot into the goal.

At the end of the first half, in the 43rd minute, Al-Hilal took the lead again. After a beautiful exchange of passes on the left, Saleh Al-Shehri passed to Salem Al-Dawsari, who cut to the middle and finished into the goalkeeper’s left corner.

Despite the advantage on the scoreboard, Al-Hilal continued attacking in the second half and had a goal disallowed in the 38th minute. In a quick counterattack, Saud Abdulhamid received a pass from Malcom and crossed to Salem Al-Dawsari, who headed the ball without a goalkeeper to score, however, the move was found to be offside.

In the 43rd minute of the final stage, Malcom extended the lead for Al-Hilal. Sergej Milinković-Savić passed through the middle to the Brazilian, who dribbled past defender Ahmed Hegazy and finished low to score his second goal of the match.

In second half stoppage time, in the 51st minute, Al-Hilal scored their fourth goal and secured the title. Abdullah Al-Hamdan received a free kick in the area and finished, goalkeeper Abdullah Al-Mayouf managed to save, but Nasser Al-Dawsari scored on the rebound.
