Today he has titles such as “Yours Forever”, “Water for Elephants” and , which became a megahit. And although fans are waiting for the next installment of the superhero’s adventures with his participation, another title that will feature his presence arouses much greater emotions.
The creator of “Parasite” announces a new production. Pattinson’s character is already making a splash
We are talking about the sci-fi thriller “Mickey 17” directed by Bong Joon Ho, which gained international popularity thanks to the four-Oscar-winning “Parasite” from 2019. The script was based on Edward Ashton’s book “Mickey 7”, which also became a bestseller in Poland. Pattinson was cast in the title role of an employee of a space expedition whose main goal is to colonize another planet. However, it is not that simple, and the implementation of the task often requires the use of extreme measures. As a result, the hero dies again and again, but this does not end his life. Each time he dies, a new version of his body is created, supplemented by a copy of his brain.
It is worth mentioning that the film will not be a faithful adaptation of the book, as evidenced by the title itself. Mickey will die more than 7 times, which the director confirmed in one of the interviews. – The number in the title is the number of all his deaths. I kill him 10 times more. This is the story of an ordinary man. It’s a science fiction film, but above all a story about a man – Bong Joon Ho. Pattinson will not be the only star of the production. He will be accompanied by, among others: Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo.
It’s not just a sad story. When is the premiere of “Mickey 17”?
During this year’s ComicCon, Warner Bros., the studio responsible for the production, organized the first private screening of the full trailer. It was attended not only by filmmakers, but also by journalists who agree that the production has a chance to become a hit and compete for an Academy Award, and not only in one category.
Pattinson’s character has to die several times in various experiments carried out on the spaceship. We literally see him dead in his astronaut suit. In one scene, Pattinson faces a copy of himself that also tries to kill him
– writes the journalist. At the same time, he emphasized that the plot certainly expects many to be a tearful story, but it is full of humor and funny threads. So far, only a few seconds of preview is available online and there is no indication that this will change in the near future. The premiere of “Mickey 17” is scheduled for January 2025.
