Avangard general director Chistyakov said that coach Kravets was not fired out of emotion
General Director of Omsk Avangard German Chistyakov in his Telegram channel explained the decision to fire Mikhail Kravets from the post of head coach of the team during the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) playoff series with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.
According to the functionary, the reshuffle was not spontaneous and was not done on emotions. “The trigger was the overall score in the series at that moment. Yes, of course, it was a risk. The easiest way was not to change anything and, in a bad situation, make the coach the last one. But we took responsibility,” said Chistyakov.
Kravets previously commented on his resignation. According to the specialist, he was simply thrown out of the club.
The specialist was fired on March 19 during the Gagarin Cup playoff series with Lokomotiv with the score 3:0 in favor of the Yaroslavl team. Later, Omsk stopped fighting for the title, losing the series with a score of 3-4.
