A representative of the Russian Orthodox Church said that Bach’s prayer against the Friendship Games makes no sense
An unnamed representative of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) appreciated the action of the head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach, who prayed at the request of Russian pranksters Vovan (Vladimir Kuznetsov) and Lexus (Alexey Stolyarov). His statement is quoted by TASS.
“High-ranking Western officials have demonstrated their willingness to be involved in political struggle, making sport not a space of peace and harmony, but a tool of manipulation,” the source noted. He also added that such prayers have no meaning or significance.
Earlier, during a conversation with pranksters, Bach and Vice-President of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas, at the request of the Russians themselves, “prayed” in honor of “saints Vovan and Lexus” to disrupt the Friendship Games. Three-time Olympic champion Irina Rodnina responded to this with the phrase “make a fool pray to God, he’ll hurt his forehead.”
Bach has headed the IOC since 2013. In March 2021, he was re-elected to a new four-year term. The Friendship Games will be held in September 2024 in Moscow and Yekaterinburg.
