Newcastle announces contract renewal for Brazilian Joelinton

This Thursday, Newcastle announced the renewal of Brazilian midfielder Joelinton. The duration of the new agreement has not been revealed, but the club claims it is a long contract.

The 27-year-old athlete spoke after signing the contract and expressed his happiness in extending his relationship with the English team.

“I feel really good. I feel really happy and my family is happy. A lot of things have happened in my years here. I’ve learned a lot and grown a lot, and for me, coming to Newcastle was the best decision of my career,” he said. “I love playing for the club. I love the club, I love the fans. We had a lot of conversations and I always wanted to be here. I’m happy to continue and I hope to be successful in the coming years”, he concluded.

Joelinton arrived at Newcastle in 2019, after transferring from Hoffenheim, in Germany. In total, the midfielder played 179 matches, scored 25 goals and distributed 15 assists.

The Brazilian previously played as a striker, but changed positions under coach Eddie Howe and established himself in the team’s midfield. The English coach was extremely happy with Joelinton’s renewal.

“This has been a huge priority for us off the field and I am absolutely delighted that Joelinton has committed his future to the club. Joey is an exceptional player and person, and the love he has for the club is reciprocated by all of us here. He brings unique qualities to the group and undoubtedly strengthens us”, he said.

“I would like to thank everyone involved behind the scenes for bringing this to a quick and positive conclusion. We are all excited to see Joelinton in a Newcastle shirt for many years to come,” concluded Eddie Howe.

Newcastle takes to the field this Saturday, at 8:30 am (Brasília time), against Tottenham, at St. James’ Park, in the English Championship.
