The official description of the series reads: Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) has finally stopped crushing on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after hearing his disparaging words about her in the last season. However, she decided that it was time to marry, preferably to someone who would give her enough independence to continue living her double life as Lady Whistledown away from her mother and sisters. However, Penelope’s timid attempts to enter the marriage market end in spectacular failure.
Meanwhile, Colin returns from his summer travels with a new look and a lot of sass. When he realizes that Penelope – the only person who has always accepted him for who he is – treats him coldly, he feels disappointed. Wanting to regain her friendship, he offers to help Penelope overcome her shyness and find a husband this season. But when his advice begins to yield surprisingly good results, Colin must wonder whether his feelings for Penelope are really just friends.
