Former president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Luis Rubiales will give testimony on April 29 to the judge investigating alleged irregular contracts during his mandate, the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJM) reported this Tuesday.
“On Monday, April 29, at 10:00 am (05:00 Brasília time), the court summoned Luis Rubiales to testify as under investigation,” the TSJM said in a statement.
According to the Spanish press, the contracts under suspicion would be, among others, related to the transfer of the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia or the renovation work at the La Cartuja stadium in Seville.
“I have never cheated on a contract,” Rubiales said last Wednesday, in an interview with La Sexta television, recorded in the Dominican Republic, shortly before his return to Spain.

The former RFEF director insisted that the transfer of the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia was made because it was “the best offer” and denied having charged commissions for it. He also denied that former player Gerard Piqué, whose company Kosmos mediated the operation, had charged any amount.
The judge investigating alleged cases of corruption and irregular contracts also called Pedro Rocha, Rubiales’ replacement at RFEF, to testify on April 12.
Rocha, who was called as a witness at 10:30 am (8:30 am local time), resigned last Wednesday from his position as head of the Management Committee that had led the RFEF since the departure of his predecessor, in view of his candidacy for the federation’s presidential elections in May 6th.
