Thomas Tuchel, coach of Bayern Munchen, stated that the German club’s season “is not yet lost” and that it “only ends when it ends”. The team faces the Arsenal this Tuesday, in London, for the first game of the quarter-finals of Champions League.
The Bavarian giant has six Champions League cups in its gallery, but is going through a season to be forgotten in the Bundesligaa long way from Bayer Leverkusen in the title race.
“We are at the center of criticism and this is deserved after our performances in the championship and the German Cup. The consistency in our performances was not there, nor was the hunger to win, the passion that is expected of us in the Bundesliga”, acknowledged Tuchel during this Monday’s press conference in London.
But Bayern plays at a “higher level” on the European stage, where it is once again among the continent’s top eight.

“The minimum objective has been achieved, there are also great teams that are not in the quarter-finals and we often forget that”, said the coach, who will leave Bayern at the end of the season.
Tuchel highlighted the time given to Mikel Arteta, Arsenal coach, to make his team grow, a veiled criticism of his own managers.
“There has been a complete change of culture with Arteta, you can see his mark. The team and the coach are one, you can see that,” he said.
Arsenal are competing in their first Champions League quarter-final since 2010. Bayern are back at this stage for the 22nd time in their history (a record), and have achieved this feat in 12 of the last 13 years.
