Ukrainians will be prohibited from shaking hands with Russians and taking group photos with them at the Olympic Games 2024
The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine is developing a protocol of conduct for athletes who will compete at the 2024 Olympic Games. This was announced by the head of the organization, Vadim Gutzeit, as quoted by TASS.
Gutzeit said that Ukrainian athletes would be prohibited from congratulating the Russians. “Of course, do not stand in any general photos, do not give general interviews, of course, do not shake hands,” he listed the possible prohibitions.
Earlier, the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, made a statement that Russian and Belarusian athletes would not be welcome at the summer Olympics. The head of the Russian Olympic Committee, Stanislav Pozdnyakov, criticized the International Olympic Committee for the lack of response to these statements.
Russians and Belarusians were allowed to participate in the Games in Paris as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, as well as those who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, will not be allowed to participate in the competition. In addition, representatives of team sports will miss the tournament.
