Russian boxers will perform at the European Championships in Belgrade with the flag and anthem
The Russian team will perform with the national flag and anthem at the European Boxing Championships in Belgrade. Secretary General of the Russian Boxing Federation Tatyana Kiriyenko reported this to TASS.
Kiriyenko thanked the International Boxing Association (IBA) for their assistance. The tournament will take place in Serbia from April 15 to 29.
On October 5, 2022, the IBA admitted athletes from Russia and Belarus to international competitions under the auspices of the organization. Boxers will perform under national flags, and if they win, the national anthem will be played.
International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach has withdrawn recognition of the IBA, which is headed by Russian Umar Kremlev. Bach said the organization no longer has a chance to organize an Olympic boxing tournament.
