Coach Gatsalov said that American wrestler Snyder wants to see Russia at the Olympics
The head coach of the Russian freestyle wrestling team, Khadzhimurat Gatsalov, spoke about the support from his opponent from the USA. His words are quoted by Match TV.
Gatsalov said that Abdulrashid Sadulaev, suspended from the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, is friends with American wrestler Kyle Snyder. He emphasized that the American wants Russia to perform at the Olympics. “As long as Russia is not at the games, there is no satisfaction from victory,” Snyder told the team.
On April 6, Snyder supported Sadulaev after being removed from the selection for the Games in Paris. He expressed hope that the International Olympic Committee will change its decision.
Sadulayev’s inadmissibility to the licensed qualifying tournament for the 2024 Games in Paris became known on April 4. The United World of Wrestling said that the reason was the athlete’s support for a special military operation. The suspension was also influenced by the fact that Sadulayev is a member of the Dynamo sports society.
