Russians won four licenses for the Games in Paris at a wrestling tournament in Baku

Representatives of the Russian women’s wrestling team won four Olympic licenses for the 2024 Games in Paris at the European tournament, which takes place in Baku. Match TV reports this.

Nadezhda Sokolova (weight category up to 50 kilograms), Natalya Malysheva (up to 53 kilograms), Alina Kasabieva (up to 62 kilograms) and Khanum Velieva (up to 68 kilograms) received tickets to the Games. Licenses for Games are not personal.

Earlier, the head of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation, Irina Viner, called for a council to be held to decide on the non-participation of Russian athletes in the Olympics. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded by saying that athletes should make their own decisions.

Last December, the IOC allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the Paris Olympics as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, as well as those who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, will not be allowed to participate in the competition. In addition, representatives of team sports will miss the tournament.
