Olympic champion from the USA Snyder supported Sadulaev, who was removed from selection for the Games
Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling from the United States, Kyle Snyder, supported the two-time winner of the Games, Russian Abdulrashid Sadulayev. The website of the Russian Wrestling Federation published a message that the American sent to his colleague.
“Hi brother. I learned about the IOC decision and your suspension. I’m really sorry. I hope the IOC will change their mind and you will perform in Paris. If I can help you with anything, please let me know,” Snyder wrote.
Sadulayev’s inadmissibility to the licensed qualifying tournament for the 2024 Games in Paris became known on April 4. The United World of Wrestling said that the reason was the athlete’s support for a special military operation. The suspension was also influenced by the fact that Sadulayev is a member of the Dynamo sports society.
Snyder lost twice to the Russian in the finals of the world championships, and also lost the gold to him at the 2020 Games in Tokyo. Sadulaev lost once to an American in the decisive bout of the world championship.
