Spanish coach Luis Enrique, currently in charge of Paris Saint-Germain, said that Portuguese center forward Gonçalo Ramos, 22, deserves more playing time. In the last ten duels, including matches for the French Cup, Champions League and French Championship, the athlete started only three games.
“I have to talk about Gonçalo Ramos. An athlete with an iron mentality, with an unmistakable ambition and a very interesting player. I am very happy to coach him. He is always prepared to play and to help the team, whatever his position. He is a player with very good numbers, who has been performing very well”, said the coach of the French team.
However, despite recognizing Gonçalo Ramos’ lack of minutes, Luis Enrique admitted that he feels calm about the way he has distributed the minutes to each player.
“I certainly deserved more playing time, but this is a very high level club. I feel comfortable with the way I have distributed the minutes between the players.”
Finally, the coach stated that he will give the young Portuguese striker more chances.
“His attitude and performance have been impeccable. It’s his first season, he’s very young, but mature. He’ll continue to have his opportunities. I’m very happy to have Gonçalo Ramos in the squad”, he concluded.
The Portuguese striker has already scored 10 goals so far, including in the French Championship and French Cup.
