Five Bayern players are doubtful to face Arsenal, says Tuchel

The technician of Bayern MunchenThomas Tuchel, said this Friday that goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, attackers Leroy Sané and Kingsley Coman, midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic and full-back Noussair Mazraoui are doubts for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, on Tuesday, against Arsenal.

“They are not in the group [para o jogo de sábado contra o Heidenheim pela Bundesliga] because they can’t play and therefore their presence is a big question mark for Tuesday”, explained the former PSG and Chelsea coach.

“We still have one objective, to go to Wembley,” declared Tuchel in reference to the venue where this season’s Champions League final will be played. In the Bundesliga, Bayern, who have won the last eleven editions, no longer seem capable of catching leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

The ‘Bavarian’ giant, eliminated in the German Cup by Sarreburg, from the third division, sees Champions League as their last chance to save the season.

“We are in the quarter-finals, so there are not many stages left to overcome. Nothing is more important than this objective”, summarized the 50-year-old coach, who will leave his position at the end of the season.

Tuchel assured that his players will turn this season’s frustrations into extra motivation: “We are all very angry and very eager to put things back in their rightful place.”

Bayern also announced this Friday the departure of technical director Marco Neppe, in post since December 2021, “by mutual agreement”.

A former player who played mainly at youth level in Germany, Neppe first managed Bayern’s football department, where he discovered talents such as Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies.
