The game
It was Olympique who started the game going forward. After just two minutes, Aubameyang played for Veretout. The midfielder finished from outside the area, but goalkeeper Chevalier fell to make the calm save.
With 10 minutes, it was Lille’s turn to respond. Jonathan David found Zhegrova on the right side of the penalty area. The player finished, but goalkeeper Pau Lopez went for it and sent it out for a corner.
The game remained very open, with both teams creating scoring opportunities. In the 25th minute, Pau Lopez worked again. After Cabella’s cross, Alexsandro rose higher than the Olympique defense to head it, and the goalkeeper sent it across the bottom line.
Already 42 minutes in, Olympique de Marseille scared the opponent again. Ounahi made a good move and crossed to Luis Henrique, who finished. Again, however, Chevalier was there to prevent the visitors from scoring. With that, the duel went to halftime at 0-0.
Five minutes into the second half, Olympique de Marseille had the best chance to open the scoring. After receiving a beautiful pass from Harit, Aubameyang entered the penalty area and hit the goal for a good save by Chevalier.
But it was Lille who actually opened the scoring. Luis Henrique missed the pass and Jonathan David got the ball. The Canadian invaded the penalty area, was brought down by Gigot, and the referee signaled a penalty. From the kick, the striker himself converted and put Lille ahead: 1-0.

However, in the 40th minute, Lille completed the victory by finding the net for the third time. Tiago Santos received the ball on the left inside the penalty area and crossed low to the back. Gudmundsson arrived hitting to put an end to any possible reaction from his opponent.
