Russian rider Kostygova was disqualified for two years for beating a horse

Russian rider Ksenia Kostygova was disqualified for cruelty to a horse. This was announced by the coach of the Russian equestrian team Vladimir Beletsky, whose words are reported by TASS.

The Russian Equestrian Federation decided to suspend the athlete for two years. “What happened at the competitions cannot be called anything other than beating. The athlete hit the animal on the head and neck with her hands, which is absolutely unacceptable,” Beletsky said.

The coach added that Kostygova had previously received a penalty for rude treatment of an animal during one of the tournaments. Beletsky called the athlete’s behavior unacceptable.

23-year-old Kostygova represented the Yaroslavl region at the competition. She will not be able to engage in any equestrian activities for the next two years.
