João Félix talks about his future at Barcelona: “I would like to stay, but it’s not just up to me”

Striker João Félix spoke this Thursday about a possible stay at Barcelona and revealed that he would like to stay with the team. The 24-year-old has a contract with Atlético de Madrid until 2029 and is on loan to the Catalan club until the end of the current European season.

“We’ll see what happens next year, my family is happy and I’m happy. I would like to stay, but it’s not just up to me”, he said in an interview with the program Giants.

João Félix also shared details of his transfer to Barça.

“The signing for Barça was on the last day, there was nothing planned. I had to go to the stadium in the morning to clarify contractual issues that I had to resign. Either I resigned, or they wouldn’t let me go to Barça.”

At Barcelona, João Félix has had good and bad moments. In total, the striker has 35 games, scored nine goals and distributed six assists. The Portuguese also commented on the competition in the squad and continuity in the starting team, as he alternated between the main and reserve teams during the season.

“Yes, give me more minutes (laughs). The competition is very big. I don’t care what they say about me. They can say whatever they want and I will continue with confidence.”

Barcelona is preparing to face PSG next Wednesday, at 4pm (Brasília time), at Parque dos Príncipes, in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League. João Félix designed the confrontation.

“We know their weapons, the dangers, Mbappé, Dembélé… but we have to play our game, with maximum desire and it will be very competitive. We hope to win.”
