Tarasova explained the reduction in the number of figure skating in Russia

Tarasova said that the suspension has reduced the number of skaters in Russia

Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova responded to information about the reduction in the number of people involved in this sport in Russia. Her words are quoted by Match TV.

According to her, this is due to the lack of opportunity to compete at international competitions. “Many parents now do not take their children to figure skating, thinking about this. This is all temporary, as soon as the restrictions are lifted, the mass participation of figure skating will begin to grow again,” the specialist explained.

Earlier it became known that 375 thousand people in Russia stopped practicing figure skating in 2023. Now the number of representatives of this sport is 247 thousand.

On March 1, 2022, the International Skating Union (ISU) banned Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions under its auspices. International tournaments in the two countries were also cancelled.
