He Surne Bilbao Basket has remained removed of the FIBA Europe Cup of the 2023-24 season, this Wednesday, after beat Niners Chemnitz by nine points, 73-82, in Germany, in the second leg of the semifinals of the competition, in what it means a result that has not been enough to overcome the 25 point advantage that the rival achieved in Miribilla of the Basque team.
In this way, Jaume Ponsarnau’s men have been left on the verge of the final of the FIBA Europe Cup, with an overall score in the semifinal of 171-155 for Chemnitz, but, at least, they have managed to close their notable participation in the competition with a new victory.
The important income obtained by Chemnitz in Bilbao has marked the course of the second leg. Knowing that the comeback was an almost impossible mission for Bilbao Basket, and that they had their ticket to the final practically sealed, the powerful German team has not shown, on its court, the overwhelming image that it showed in the second half of the match from Miribilla. Bilbao Basket has been able to take advantage of this circumstance, and, in addition, has once again had a good match, as has been usual in recent weeks also in the Endesa League, thus winning the victory.

At half-time, the Biscayan team led by three, 36-39, and at the end of the third quarter the local team was momentarily ahead, 59-57. Those from Ponsarnau have been able to maintain the tension to, in the last minutes, score the victory, and thus say goodbye to the FIBA Europe Cup with a good taste in their mouths.
