Congress: proposal for the seventh withdrawal of AFP will not be debated this Thursday the 4th in plenary session

The debate on the withdrawal of funds from the AFP will have to be postponed, since the Board of Spokespersons of the Congress of the Republic failed to obtain the necessary votes to exempt the deadlines of the opinion that would allow the rapid release of these funds for immediate discussion in the plenary session of Congress next Thursday, April 4. They managed to obtain 66 and needed 76. This request had been presented previously and as a matter of urgency by the parliamentarian Digna Calle de Podemos.

On Monday, March 25, with 17 votes in favor, the Congressional Economic Commission approved a substitute text that allows a new withdrawal of funds from the Pension Fund Administrators (AFP) of up to 4 tax units (UIT)which is equivalent to S/20,600, for all affiliates without exception.

Are there votes to approve the AFP withdrawal in the Plenary?

José Luna, leader of Podemos Peru, pointed out that the 66 votes necessary for approval would indicate that said parliamentarians would also support the opinion when it is presented in Congress, which would ensure a simple majority for the approval of the withdrawal of 4 tax tax units (UIT ) from the funds of the Pension Fund Administrator (AFP).

The obstacle was not the lack of support for the concept of withdrawal, but rather obtaining the necessary votes to prioritize its debate, leaving its discussion pending for the following week. To approve access to private pension funds, the vote of half plus one of the congressmen is required, that is, exactly 66 votes, who had already expressed themselves in favor of expediting the proposal so that it would reach the vote soon. Full.

However, the reason why a favorable majority was not obtained for this proposal to be discussed in the Congress Plenary On Thursday, April 4, it consisted mainly of the vote against three specific groups.
