Kolobkov accused the IOC of creating an atmosphere of snitching in world sports

Former Russian Sports Minister Pavel Kolobkov criticized the actions and statements of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). His words are quoted by TASS.

Kolobkov accused the IOC of creating an atmosphere of widespread snitching in world sports. He said that athletes receive benefits for denunciations, not realizing that this is immoral.

“Some of our athletes have been repeatedly sent letters with a request to recognize the state’s participation in some program, guaranteeing them a reduction in the period of disqualification, which did not even exist. That is, they essentially threatened them if they did not slander the state,” said the ex-minister.

Earlier, IOC head Thomas Bach spoke about the creation of a special commission that monitors statements by Russian athletes in the media and on the Internet. The Ukrainian side is also involved in this.

In December 2023, the IOC allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the Olympics in Paris as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, as well as those who have connections with the Armed Forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, will not be allowed to participate in the competition. In addition, representatives of team sports will miss the tournament.
