Tim Tszyu said that after the defeat he is ready for a rematch with the American Fundora
Tim Tszyu, the son of former absolute world boxing champion Kostya Tszyu, commented on the first defeat in his career. His words are quoted by The Guardian.
Tszyu paid tribute to his opponent, American Sebastian Fundora, and called him the new king of the division. “This is boxing, part of the sport, this happens. I still fought hard and gave it my all. I don’t want to make excuses – I’m ready to meet any opponent, whenever,” said the Australian, adding that he agrees to a rematch.
The fight between Tszyu and Fundora took place on the night of March 31 and lasted all 12 rounds. The winner was determined by a split decision of the judges. Tszyu Jr. was unable to defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior middleweight title for the second time and missed out on the opportunity to win the World Boxing Council (WBC) title.
Now 29-year-old Tszyu has 24 victories, 17 of which were won by knockout, with only one defeat. The 26-year-old Fundora has a record of 21 wins, losses and draws.
