Denis Makarov said that the level of RPL is falling due to international suspension

Dynamo Moscow midfielder Denis Makarov named the consequences of the international isolation in which Russian football is located. His words are quoted by “Championship”.

According to him, the level of the Russian Premier League (RPL) is falling. “When you don’t have practice playing with European teams, participating in the Conference League, Europa League, Champions League. In such tournaments you usually grow and gain experience,” Makarov noted.

The midfielder added that now he does not experience the same emotions from the Russian championship as before. “Then you fought for first, second, third, fourth place to get into European competition, but now you’re just competing within the championship,” the player emphasized.

On February 28, 2022, FIFA and UEFA excluded Russian national teams and clubs from international tournaments. Teams do not compete in European competitions, and the Russian national team lost the opportunity to compete for access to the final part of the 2022 World Cup and did not participate in the Euro 2024 qualifications.
