Russian forward and captain of the National Hockey League (NHL) Washington Capitals, Alexander Ovechkin, supported eight-year-old hockey player Ilya Tolpykin, who was injured in the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall. This was reported by Soviet Sport.

Ovechkin recorded a video message for the young athlete. “I heard that something bad happened to you and your little sister, and you are now in the hospital. I know you are a strong, brave, strong guy, you will definitely endure everything! And scars only adorn a real man,” he said and wished the boy a speedy recovery and return to the ice.

Earlier, the boy’s father, Igor Tolpykin, shared that CSKA, Dynamo, Spartak, Krylya Sovetov and other teams supported the family. A video message was also recorded by forward of the NHL club Carolina Hurricanes Evgeny Kuznetsov.

Crocus City Hall was attacked on the evening of March 22. Terrorists armed with machine guns entered the building and opened targeted fire on those who were inside. While fleeing the crime scene in a car, they hit Ilya Tolpykin and hit his father, mother and 11-year-old sister. The boy is in hospital with a traumatic brain injury and fractures of the collarbone and hip.
