Russian archers refused to participate in qualifications for the 2024 Olympics
The head of the Russian Archery Federation, Vladimir Yesheev, said that the athletes refused to participate in the qualifications for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. His words are quoted by TASS.
Yesheev said that the executive committee of the federation approved the participation of athletes in a neutral status, but they did not want to participate in the Olympics in a neutral status without a flag and anthem. He emphasized that many of the team represent CSKA and Dynamo, which are under sanctions.
Earlier it became known that more Russian athletes abandoned the Olympics. Then the senior coach of the Russian artistic gymnastics team, Valentina Rodionenko, said that athletes do not want to compete without the flag and anthem.
In December 2023, the International Olympic Committee allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the Games in Paris. They will be able to take part in the tournament as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, as well as those who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, will not be allowed to participate in the competition. In addition, representatives of team sports will miss the tournament.
