A member of the Russian Paralympic table tennis team, Ekaterina Popova, died in a terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall. This was reported on the website of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC).
Popova’s death was called a great loss for the sports community and the Russian national team. “With her achievements, she made a significant personal contribution to the development of this sport. This is an irreparable loss for us. We mourn with you. The bright memory of this man will forever remain in our hearts,” the PKR statement says.
Popova, 39, was a two-time Russian champion. As a member of the national team, she took part in the European Championship and other international competitions.
Crocus City Hall was attacked on the evening of March 22. Terrorists armed with machine guns entered the building and opened targeted fire on those who were inside. According to preliminary data, 140 people became victims of the terrorist attack.
