Honored figure skating coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova spoke about the performance of Russians at the 2024 Olympic Games. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Tarasova said that there is no need to prohibit athletes from performing in Paris. “Whoever wants to go, let him go,” she noted.
On March 1, Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin stood up for representatives of the country who want to compete at the 2024 Summer Games. In his opinion, the athletes participating in the selection for the tournament are the treasure of the country.
In December 2023, the International Olympic Committee admitted Russians and Belarusians to the Olympics in Paris as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, as well as those who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, will not be allowed to participate in the competition. In addition, representatives of team sports will miss the tournament.
