On Monday afternoon, Nottingham Forest confirmed the decision to appeal against the punishment proposed by Premier League. The club lost four points in the English Championship table for breaking sustainability and financial fair play rules. As a result, they fell to the relegation zone of the national league, with 21 points in 29 matches.
This appeal is unlikely to cause further damage to the club. The hearing of the case will take place within a maximum of three weeks, before the deadline of April 12th. If Forest “wins”, their points will be restored.
“Nottingham Forest confirms that it has appealed today against the four-point punishment imposed by the Commission in relation to breaking the Premier League (PSR) sustainability and profit rules. The club will not be making any further statements for the time being,” the team published in an official statement .

The Premier League accuses Forest of spending 95.5 million pounds (R$602 million), with the limit being 61 million (R$384.5 million). “The process has damaged the trust we had in the Premier League,” the club claimed.
This same season, Everton received a ten-point ban in November 2023, the biggest in Premier League history (since 1992), for the same reasons. After an appeal, however, the penalty was reduced to “just” six points.
