Southgate gives details about England before facing Belgium

In an interview this Monday, England coach Gareth Southgate revealed some details about the second friendly match that will take place on this FIFA Date. The game in question will be against the Belgiumthis Tuesday, at Wembley, at 4:45 pm (Brasília time).

Among the answers, the coach revealed that midfielder Declan Rice, from Arsenal, will be the team captain. This will also be the athlete’s 50th game for the Three Lions.

“Declan is here. It will be his 50th game. He already has great leadership experience and I think it’s a great opportunity for some of our young guys to demonstrate leadership,” said the coach.

Rice revealed he was honored to receive the opportunity to captain his team at England’s main stadium. It is worth remembering that Wembley was the stage for England’s only world title, in world Cup from 1966.

“I’ve grown a lot as a person and professional since my first call-up at the age of 19 (in 2019). Fifty appearances, it will be an honor. Entering Wembley in front of my friends and family… I’m speechless,” said Rice.

In addition to this news, Southgate guaranteed the presence of Ivan Toney, from Brentford, in the clash with Belgium.

“Ivan (Toney) is definitely involved in the game. With everything that’s happened, the original idea or plan for the week is a little different. We’re finding out more about players and that helps a lot.”
