The IOC said that tennis player Sabalenka is not excluded from participating in the 2024 Olympics
The press service of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) commented on the information about the exclusion of Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka from the 2024 Games in Paris. RIA Novosti reports this.
The IOC said that at the moment no tennis player is excluded from participating in the Olympic Games in Paris. Thus, Sabalenka retains her chances of getting into the tournament.
Earlier on March 25, the Tennis Up to Date portal reported that Sabalenka and her compatriot Victoria Azarenka would not compete at the 2024 Olympic Games. The reason was that the athletes are associated with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
Sabalenka is a former world number one in singles and doubles. She has two victories at the Australian Open 2023 and 2024 in singles, as well as at the Australian Open 2021 and US Open 2019 in doubles.
